Graffiti notes

Whoa…! What has the world come to. The only thing it is talking about is Donald Trump, of course there are some headlines that talk about Brexit. Syria makes occasional appearance, also Iraq, situation is grim in both the places; Putin has not stopped bombing Aleppo. In India it is demonetization.

And the pot is boiling at the sorcerer’s lab in Graffiti. Now it wants to change the way story promos are presented in Graffiti Page. Unlike the present style of each story being promoted as independent post, it wants to present an overview of stories of the day, with the stories of the day arranged in a single post.

Besides this the Newspapers section would be renamed but the original proposal to name it Media File has been shelved as it sounds like a folder on the PC containing songs, pictures and video. The new name will have to be something that is sharp and distinct. The other improvements that were discussed earlier will be forthcoming over a period of months.

Warm regards,

From Graffiti

Graffiti spent the whole of Wednesday, November 09 2016 watching the events leading to the election of Donald Trump. The cheer ringing out in the Trump camp and the pensive atmosphere in the Clinton camp, the election analysis over, BBC, CNN, France24, DW, there was shock as it became clear that Trump had won.

Graffiti had been following the elections closely. There were posts in The News Today, Newspapers discussed the how the campaigning was proceeding, and the implications of either of the candidates becoming the President. There were some opinion posts in graffiti | Wall that knows in its inimitable style.

Rising of the son was discussed in “tongue in cheek” posts in graffiti | Wall that knows. The Congress party followed the time honored tradition of passing the crown to the new generation of Gandhis. The sycophancy was palpable as every neta paid tribute to the new king.

As we come close to saying good bye to 2016, there are moves afoot to make Graffiti more interesting. The notices of events and letters to the readers have now got their own home here on Graffiti Inbox. Graffiti would be reviving some of the sections that are lying dormant…for example Spotlight.

Coming soon…!

Spotlight which has been almost shelved would come back with more panache. This website had begun as a “dialogue” among the nation’s most respected names in the field of development, economics, environment and politics. From Sunita Narain, Brinda Karat, Mihir Shah, etc to grassroots stories about successes on the farmland Spotlight covered it all.

The old stories would remain as reference points. The stories in the new Spotlight would now be digests of happenings on the development front…the stuff affecting the people directly. From floods to famine – a whole gamut of issues that are faced by the creature called the common man in whose name the leaders buy votes, only to be forgotten. Their stories would be center staged in a easily readable package.

The plans are not concrete yet, I just thought I would share this bit of gossip from the “shop floor.”

Graffiti Inbox

Dear Readers,

Graffiti has been keeping its reader’s informed about what is happening at Graffiti. This was particularly so when a long holiday was looming ahead, or when I fell sick and there weren’t any posts on any sections. As I was going through the posts in graffiti | Wall that knows, I found that those posts were breaking up the trend of postings on this section.

I decided that the time had come when these postings had to find a place for themselves. So, here it is, Graffiti Inbox which used to post occasionally about what was trending on Graffiti will now feature everything that happens behind the scenes.

Warm regards,
